Prof Adam Nelson wins UCB-Ehrlich Award for Excellence in Medicinal Chemistry

On April 19, Prof Adam Nelson, University of Leeds, won the UCB-Ehrlich Award for Excellence in Medicinal Chemistry. This award was established to acknowledge and recognise outstanding research in the field of Medicinal Chemistry, and is the most prestigious prize an academic medicinal chemist can get.

Prof Nelson was recognised for developing chemistry of value for drug discovery. His contributions to the European Lead Factory was specifically mentioned in the motivation text. Winning this prize is a clear acknowledgement of the importance of chemical innovation in the drug discovery process, but also initiatives where excelence in compound design meets disease-related biology.
