FAQ: Opportunities for Charities and Foundations
-
What opportunities does the European Lead Factory currently offer to charities and foundations?
At the end of 2021, the European Lead Factory opened up its services to charities and foundations across the world. This means that charities and foundations can gain access to our drug discovery platform, a sub-set (340,000) of our high-quality library of chemical compounds, and our network of experts in the field of drug discovery, against payment. With this step, the European Lead Factory is contributing to making a worldwide impact in various areas of unmet medical need, and across all disease areas.

Which organisations qualify as a charity and/or foundation?
We define a charity as a non-profit charitable organization that relies on periodic donations from the general public to directly support a substantial part of its initiatives. A foundation, on the other hand, is a non-profit charitable organization that does not qualify as a charity and that is established mainly with funds from a single non-public source or certain specific non-public sources, and that further invests its acquired funding to generate income that is then distributed for its charitable purposes.
