New analysis of the ELF Public Compound Collection

News News

An important European Lead Factory (ELF) asset is our Public Compound Collection (PCC), a collection of around 190,000 compounds that was designed based on crowdsourced chemistry proposals from academic and SME experts from across Europe. The PCC complements the compounds from our EFPIA (pharma) partners, together creating our >500,000-strong, high-quality compound library.

A detailed analysis of the PCC was recently performed by Dr. Chimed Jansen and Dr. Hugues Lemoine, medicinal chemists from two of our SME partners, Symeres and Edelris. Their analysis looked at the physical and chemical composition and characteristics of the PCC, comparing it to commercially available libraries.

PCC analysis results

Several parameters were addressed as part of the analysis such as molecular weight, cLogP, and Fsp3. In short, the analysis showed that the PCC differs from commercial high-throughput screening libraries – an indication of its novelty. It was revealed as a library that is rich in its three-dimensionality and successfully expands chemical space to enhance the discovery of novel chemical probes, novel chemical leads, and drug discovery efforts in general.
