Publication: The European Lead Factory: An updated HTS compound library for innovative drug discovery
In 2019, the European Lead Factory (ELF) established its current compound library, the ESCulab Compound Collection (ECC). The collection evolved from the Joint European Compound Library (JECL), which includes compounds from the Public Compound Collection (PCC) and participating large pharmaceutical companies. To date, approximately 325,000 compounds from eight pharmaceutical companies have been added to the ECC, along with almost 200,000 compounds from the PCC.
In a paper published in Drug Discovery Today, partners of the ELF detail the properties of the updated compound collection, showing that it is an attractive and “highly diverse” compound set that is complementary to commercial screening libraries.
Containing non-commercially available lead-like compounds from eight pharma companies and completely novel compounds from 10 leading academic groups and five small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the ECC is available for screening by academics, SMEs, and charity organisations alike.
