A recap of the joint ELF-SCT webinar

News News

On 28 June 2021, the European Lead Factory (ELF) hosted a webinar organised in collaboration with Société de Chimie Thérapeutique (SCT). Targeted specifically at the French scientific community, the webinar introduced participants to the opportunities  and benefits of collaborating with the ELF.

A hybrid meeting, held partly in English and partly in French, the webinar was formally opened by Professor Rebecca Deprez, President of the SCT, and attended by close to 60 participants. Dr Jon de Vlieger, Coordinator of the ELF from Lygature, provided an overview of the ELF portfolio, the assets we offer, what is entailed in the execution of a screening programme with the ELF, and a summary of the rights and obligations of programme owners (those who submit screening proposals).

“Our aim is to show how the ELF can boost your drug discovery activities in a win-win collaboration,” said Jon. “Researchers from all over Europe can submit innovative screening proposals to the ELF. We are looking for early drug discovery programmes and we work with the programme owners as closely as possible.”

The main presentations of the session were given by Dr. Raymond Pierce, Emeritus Director of Research at Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), and Dr. Hugues Lemoine, Head of Chemical Technologies and Libraries at Edelris. Raymond provided insight into his experience of working with the ELF to screen a target for hits that could ultimately lead to a new treatment for Chagas disease, while Hugues detailed the properties of the ELF Compound Collection, including the Public Compound Collection, which was synthesised de novo for the ELF.

A recording of part of the session is available to view online.
