The key goal of ELF is to create validated hit series. Another successful ELF programme aimed at identifying small molecules for the treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease has culminated in the most potent compound yet identified by the ELF team at Newhouse, Scotland with the most active compound reaching 100pM. These compounds also have excellent physicochemical properties.

The complete package of data generated for this programme includes a series of compounds which establish the progressive nature of the structure-activity relationships, detailed biochemical studies to demonstrate the mechanism of action supported by biophysical data from two independent methods, cellular activity, physicochemical and DMPK profiling of the best compounds. Thus, excellent starting points for a novel treatment for this terrible disease have been identified.
